Dr. Michael Levin
Lead Scientist & Co-Founder
Dr. Michael Levin is the Scientific Co-Founder at Astonishing Labs, he also serves as the Vannevar Bush Distinguished Professor in the Department of Biology at Tufts University, and additionally he serves as Associate Faculty at the Wyss Institute at Harvard University. Dr. Levin is also the Director of the Allen Discovery Center, and Director of the Tufts Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology.
Dr. Levin has dual degrees in Biology and Computer Science and received his Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University,
Dr. Levin’s laboratory studies the computational decisions that biological systems make to establish a place in and adapt to their environment. Through his research, he has explored the inherent ability of biological systems to process information, and their capacity for plasticity at all levels – from the population to the organism to the organs, cells, and molecular pathways with them.

Tom Cirrito
Managing Partner
Tom Cirrito is a serial inventor, entrepreneur, and founder of multiple companies in the life sciences, he currently serves as Managing Partner of Astonishing Labs.
Dr. Cirrito is Founder and CEO of Y2X Life Sciences, Filament BioSolutions, Biotagenics, and Immunovent. He was also the CEO of AGelity BioMechanics, the first start up company out of Hospital for Special Surgery.
Dr. Cirrito previously served as Vice President of Research and Development and Director of Business Development at Stemline Therapeutics and helped take the company through its IPO. Dr. Cirrito joined Stemline in 2005 as the second full-time employee and was responsible for business development, preclinical, intellectual property, manufacturing, analytical, and operations.
Prior to joining Stemline, Dr. Cirrito was a biopharmaceuticals equities analyst at Piper Jaffray, where he covered large and small-cap biotechnology companies. Previously, he was a life sciences consultant for A.G. Edwards Capital Partners, a venture capital group.
Dr. Cirrito received a B.A. in Biological Sciences and a Ph.D. in Immunology from Washington University in St. Louis. He serves as an investor, mentor, and Board Member to various early stage biotechnology and healthcare companies. He has been published in a wide variety of scientific fields and is the inventor of numerous technologies.
